Methodology:
All track performances in English units are converted to metric equivalents using the standardized conversion table on ustfccca.org
All hand-timed performances are given a penalty of 0.24 seconds after conversions (NFHS Method). If results were hand-timed and reported out to two decimal places, results are always rounded up to a tenth of a second and then 0.24 seconds added.
These are all-condition performances. No wind instrumentation has been used at this meet.
y-symbol indicates original performance was in English units - yards or miles.
ht-symbol indicates original performance was hand-timed. Hand timing penalty of 0.24 seconds is added in equivalent result.
c-symbol indicates the original performance was converted with a hand-timing conversion and/or english to metric conversion.
All track performances from 1973 to 1982 are considered english distances (yards/miles). All track performances from 1983 and after are considered metric. You will see that event results were reported in meters, yards, and miles for several years after 1982, but we believe the Woodward High School track converted to metric in 1983 and any results described otherwise were in error.
All track performances from 1973 to 2001 are considered hand-timed. All track performances from 2002 and after are considered automatically timed. You will see that results were reported out to two decimal places for many years prior to 2002, but it was not yet common practice to round up to one decimal place when hand-timing was the method of timing because hand-timing was pretty much always the method of timing.
